Here at Pinewood Motorcycle Training Centre we’re more than just a motorcycle-training organisation, we’re a whole little community. Look at the other areas of this website to see the things we get up to and what we have to offer.
The Pinewood Track Day Club is a relatively new thing, consisting of the ‘regular crew’ and now people who’ve done their training with Pinewood, and invited guests, and fancy trying something a bit different.
The idea behind the Track Day Club is to give riders the opportunity to take themselves and their machines to a level of riding not safely or legally achievable on the road. You don’t need to be a riding god or anything like that, but having a bit of post-test riding experience would be a good idea, as would a desire to learn more about machine control. Riding on a circuit has many advantages over regular road riding. From a safety point of view we’re all going in the same direction (most of the time!) and if we should slide off there’s much less to hurt us - it’s usually a gravel trap or grass run-off area.
We can also ride in relative safety at speeds well in excess of public road speed limits if we choose to - there are no pedestrians, cyclists, or elderly people out there with us. If anyone should become separated from their machine for any reason, there’ll be medical assistance there in minutes (if not seconds) whether it is needed or not - you don’t get that on the road!
Please be aware though, that any motorcycle riding has inherent risks and dangers, especially as the speeds increase. A track day is not a race or competitive event, but it should be considered in a similar way to any motorsport event.
Safety - There are certain things we can do to improve our personal safety and reduce risks on a track day, and as part of the club, we talk about the safety measures that can be taken.
Have a look on the club forum at some of the events being booked by club members and, if you’re interested, please let us know.
